ASF must be led by specialists and less by politicians, claims the economic analyst, prof.dr. Mircea Cosea.
Mr. Coşea declared for the BURSA newspaper: "I expect the future management of ASF to be made up of specialists, not political people, not relatives, not people brought from who knows where. I remember with great displeasure, the way the current leadership presented itself in Parliament when it was called. It was clear evidence of incompetence, of a situation that reminded us of what strictly political leadership meant before the Revolution. I expect that there will be a leadership made up of specialists, that they will not have such a strong political imprint - for sure there will be politics there, it cannot be otherwise - and especially that they will be people who are not supported by local barons or who knows what other important people from the current leadership of the country. So, specialists, specialists, specialists; this must be at ASF. This institution is too important to be politicized in the way it has been so far".
Regarding the old management of ASF, the economic analyst told us that it did not understand its purpose.
Mircea Coşea stated: "I think that those who led the ASF did not understand at all the importance of this institution for the market economy in Romania and especially the insurance market. They didn't understand, they led in a bureaucratic manner, I don't want to say that they led without professionalism - maybe that's too much, but anyway they didn't understand their mission. ASF made important mistakes, we have errors that I do not want to repeat - bankruptcies, confusions, all kinds of things - that show that the activity did not go well. This politicization and I would even say deprofessionalization of the ASF management until now has led to a situation where the Authority is not a representative institution for the capital market in Romania and, in particular, for the insurance market".
Asked what grade the former management of ASF would deserve for the management practiced, Mircea Coşea told us: "I cannot give a grade to Marcu's team, because in my opinion the management of ASF had nothing to do with the institution that drove it. He was from another world and didn't understand anything that was going on, so I can't make an assessment. If I did, it would definitely be negative".
