English"Mittal Steel" Iasi invested $1.8 Mln in pipe-testing equipment last year. According to a company press release, the investment may lead to a significant increase in total production volume, especially in the delivery of pipes used to transport petroleum and other fuel products.
The testing capacity of the new equipment is six pipes per minute, while the previous one was one pipe every two minutes. Compared to the testing pressure level of 50 atmospheres reached by the old equipment, the new one reaches 300 atmospheres.
American Petroleum Institute" (API) certified in 2005 the pipes manufactured by "Mittal Steel" Iasi and as a result, the company can manufacture pipes for petroleum transportation.
As a consequence of the API certification, "Mittal Steel" Iasi can increase its added value product range by 20%.
