MKB Romexerra Bank, part of MKB Bank and Bayerische Landesbank, concluded last year with a gross profit of 24,4 million RON (7,2 million EUR) and a net profit of over 22 million RON (6,5 million EUR), up 11,3% from 2005. The bank"s assets 1,2 billion RON (360,8 million EUR), gaining 15,8% year-on-year. Last year, the majority stake of 55,37% was acquired by MKB Bank, the third largest bank in Hungary. The majority shareholder in MKB Bank is Bayerische Landesbank, one of the largest banks in Germany.
The bank"s long-term objective is reaching a 5% market share. The bank plans to expand its territorial branches to 150 units. For this year, Romexterra intends to expand its branch network by 35 units, thus reaching 96 units by the end of the year. Also, the bank plans to increase its asset portfolio by 65%, from 1,2 billion to 2 billion RON as well as its gross profit, from 24,4 million to 27,6 million RON.
