Most tourists have chosen the mountains, not the seaside

Versiunea în limba română

The hot summer seems to have directed Romanians more towards the mountains than the seaside, with people primarily preferring cooler areas over beaches. Thus, Brasov occupies the first position in the top of the most popular summer destinations, followed by Eforie Nord, Costinesti, Bucharest, and Mamaia, according to the online hotel platform Travelminit.ro, which conducted a study based on reservations made during the June-July 2023 period. Tourists also took full advantage of the two short summer vacations, namely June 1st and Pentecost, when public sector employees had an extended five-day weekend, as well as the Assumption of Mary holiday, with time off on August 14th and 15th, these being the peak periods in terms of reservations.

Prices and Summer Destinations

The prices for this summer remained largely in line with those from the previous season, according to the mentioned source, which exemplifies: "The average price for one night of accommodation for a couple was 340 lei between June and August 2023, while the average price for one night of accommodation for a family (two adults + two children) was 536 lei. For a two-night stay in Romania, tourists paid 763 lei per stay (two persons), and 1.150 lei per stay (family). For a five-night stay in the country, Romanians spent 1.823 lei per stay (two persons), and 2.656 lei per stay (family). The cheapest package on Travelminit.ro was sold in a Saturn hotel for the price of 173 lei, a package for a two-night stay for two adults. Similarly, the cheapest package for families was sold in Miercurea Ciuc, at the price of 850 lei, for four adults, over a duration of five nights. Lastly, the cheapest package for families on the coast was sold in the 2 Mai resort, at the price of 1.200 lei, for four people, over a duration of five nights."

According to the Travelminit.ro report, tourists are now looking for comprehensive packages for their vacations, including more than just accommodation. For instance, those going to the seaside are looking for a private beach, included sunbeds and umbrellas in the package, to ensure a comfortable stay with multiple facilities. Many of those making reservations on Travelminit.ro are looking for rooms with a view or rooms that have a whirlpool bathtub. For the most romantic, rooms with romantic decor are in high demand, where they can find rose petals and champagne.

"We often receive questions from Travelminit customers and always strive to work closely with hoteliers and accommodation representatives to provide them with the best vacation experience. For example, before choosing accommodation, tourists ask questions about the distance between the hotel and the beach/points of interest, transportation options at the destination, the spa schedule, or the coffee machine amenities in the room (whether it uses beans or capsules)," says Domokos Rudolf, the leader of the customer relations team at Travelminit.
