Multivac Plans 12 Mio EUR Sales For 2009

Multivac Romania, the representative office of the German-based packaging machinery manufacturer Multivac, started operations in August 2008 and concluded last year with 2 million EUR in turnover. The management had planned much greater achievements, but the economic-financial crisis hindered all efforts in this respect.

"As the cost of borrowing has increased substantially, the situation this year is going to be hard. Everybody is on standby and any investment is much more difficult to make these days. We are helping our customers by offering them supplier credit, but only if they prove viable. The most difficult part is that no one can estimate the duration of the crisis or the beginning of recovery. We will surely get past these hard times with the financing programmes we are sustaining and the help of the great German group Multivac," Adrian Dobre, CEO of Multivac Romania, told BURSA. Dobre added that Multivac Romania was aiming to achieve 12 million EUR in turnover this year, primarily from the sale of packaging machinery for the food industry and the medical industry.

The German-based Multivac Group has a policy to have a representative office in each European country. As a global leader in chamber machinery production, the group has 50 representative offices worldwide. "Multivac produces 1,200 thermoformer machines per year and owns 400 patents and thousands of variants. No application resembles the next as each customer has specific sizing needs and a multitude of requirements. We produce packaging machinery for the food industry, the medical industry, ball-bearings producers, cartridge producers and many others," Dobre added.

The Romanian branch has 45 employees and has offices in Bucharest, Cluj, Timisoara, Suceava, Satu Mare and Brasov to ensure service for the entire lifecycle of the packaging machinery. Multivac Group is headquartered near Munich, Germany, and produces packaging machinery for any interested customer, from the smallest companies to industrial giants. Multivac machines are produced by 3,000 employees in Germany and Austria. Group-wide sales reach 500 million EUR p.a.
