EnglishThe natural gas price will not gain more than 5-8% this year, according to Minister of Economy Varujan Vosganian. He added late last week that the increment could even be smaller than that if the Ministry and gas companies managed to fulfill objectives related to lowering the imported gas price.
Overall, the natural gas price hike would impact the annual inflation rate by 0.5% and go almost unnoticed among the financially challenged inhabitants, he believes.
He added that intense effort was being dedicated to setting up a social fund for natural gas, intended to help low-income consumers better withstand the ongoing alignment to EU natural gas prices. Other near-future objectives include a price increase calendar, inter-connexions with Hungary, Bulgaria and Ukraine and more storage capacity.
