The "George Enescu" Philharmonic will celebrate National Culture Day on January 14 and 15 with activities and events dedicated to audiences of all ages. According to the organizers, on January 14 at 7:00 PM, at the Romanian Athenaeum, the MUSICRIT Awards Gala will take place-a project realized by the Union of Critics, Editors, and Music Producers in Romania, together with the "George Enescu" Philharmonic. The musical moments of the gala will be performed by mezzo-soprano Judit Kutasi, bass Alexander Kopeczi, soprano Rodica Vica, baritone Alexandru Chiriac, pianist Daria Tudor, Irina Sârbu, and Ana Parghel Sârbu, the "Violoncellissimo" and "Musica Ricercata" ensembles, the "Madrigal" National Chamber Choir conducted by Anna Ungureanu, and the Romanian Youth Orchestra conducted by Gabriel Bebeşelea. The program includes works by George Enescu, Tomaso Albinoni, Giuseppe Verdi, Francisco Cilea, Amilcare Ponchielli, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and Valentino Fioravanti. On January 15, at 2:00 PM and 2:30 PM, two free guided tours with prior registration are scheduled at the Romanian Athenaeum.
Also on January 15, at 6:00 PM, as part of the educational project "Music for Everyone," an extraordinary concert will take place featuring soloists from the Orchestra and Choir of the "George Enescu" Philharmonic. Admission to this concert is free, with priority for students coming through the Bucharest School Inspectorate. National Culture Day has been celebrated since 2011 on January 15 to honor the personality and contribution of the poet Mihai Eminescu to Romanian culture and literature.
