New attempt to solve the issue of school restrooms

Restrooms have been one of the major problems in the domestic education system over the past 20 years. There have been numerous attempts to address this issue, but things have never been taken to completion. Authorities are making another attempt. Last week, the government approved a Government Decision regarding the allocation of certain funds from the Ministry of Education's budget to local budgets for the renovation of restroom facilities in educational institutions. According to a press release from the Ministry of Education, the total allocated amount is 14,606 thousand lei, of which 4,673 thousand lei is for the continuation of restroom renovation works in state pre-university educational institutions financed in 2022, in accordance with Government Decision no. 633/2022 and Government Decision no. 1,424/2022, and 9,933 thousand lei for funding new renovation works to establish compliant restroom facilities in pre-university educational institutions. "The amounts allocated by the Ministry of Education are in addition to the funds allocated from the local budget, and the procedure for the acquisition of investment works, the conclusion, and the execution of the works contract fall under the responsibility of local authorities," the Ministry of Education stated. Additionally, the Ministry of Education has sent an information note regarding the allocation of these funds for restroom renovation works to all 159 beneficiary educational institutions as per the Government Decision, as well as to the local public authorities responsible for their administration.
