Nokia, the world"s top mobile handset maker, on Friday announced it received a construction authorization from the Jucu mayoralty for the building of its cell phone production facility within the Tetrom III industrial park in Cluj county, according to a company announcement quoted by NewsIn. Construction works are to start immediately and the company expects production to start midway through next year.
On March 26th this year, Nokia announced its intent to build a mobile device production facility in Jucu, Cluj county. The investment amounts to 60 million EUR and the company estimates it will hire approximately 500 people by the end of the year. The number of employees is expected to reach 3,500 when the plant starts functioning at full capacity.
The company"s products are divided primarily between four divisions: mobile phones (wireless voice and data devices for personal and business uses), multimedia (home satellite systems, and mobile gaming devices), networks (wireless switching and transmission equipment used in carrier networks), and enterprise solutions (wireless systems for businesses).
