The 2013 Halloween will be a special one for Americans. The US citizens no longer need to look for horror in their movies, nor do they need their imagination to choose their Halloween costumes.
Because the "party" has begun on the first day of October, and the terror will last for a long time from now on. Its name is Obamacare, the loving nickname given to a law passed in 2010.
The Affordable Care Act was supposed to be a huge step forward when it comes to providing Americans with health insurance.
According to the official explanations, the ACA was supposed to regulate the health insurance market and to increase the affordability and quality of private healthcare services. But something was wrong from the very beginning. The draft law, which had over two thousand pages, was not reviewed by the members of Congress prior to the vote.
Nancy Pelosi, an important member of the Democrat Party and president of the House of Representatives at that time, said that "we have to vote the law to find out what it contains".
It is only now that the Americans have begun seeing what is "contains", and desperation is the word that is used the most frequently.
President Obama repeated countless times, that "whoever likes their current insurance plan, because no one can take it away from them". Is that really so? Not even remotely. A piece of news from Associated Press reports that "many policy holders will receive a surprise in the mail: announcements that their insurance policies have been cancelled, because they do not comply with the standards of the new law".
So the leader of the free world has lied? That's no big deal! Us folks in Europe, especially so if we're living in Eastern Europe, we are used to that. But the average or less average Americans aren't, especially those who voted twice for the current president.
"They put a gun to my head telling me I have to pay more", said for Bloomberg a woman from Virginia, forced to cancel her old healthcare policy and buy a "new one".
Insurance companies from Florida to California have sent their clients notes that they would be canceling their existing contracts, and this has happened in hundreds of thousands of cases in each federal state. An article in Los Angeles Times, writes that "California residents became outraged when they saw the new prices", because "what seemed wonderful on principle, doesn't look the same in reality".
Surprise! Trick or treat? No treat, only tricks!
The Weekly Standard describes the situation of a woman from Florida whose insurance premiums increased ten times. "Why can't I keep what I have, why do I have to be forced to buy a different insurance policy?", she asked.
A resident from California said: "I have supported Obamacare from all my heart, until I found out I had to pay for it", according to an article from Washington Times. Variations from that statement I have also found in other newspapers and magazines in the United States. Aren't "the innocents" who unconditionally support the socialist policies, until they find out they have to pay for them enviable?
But that is not all. The website "built" for the regimentation of the population in the new program (Healthcare.gov) crashed on the first day, and the number of those who succeeded in joining seems to be a state secret. Searching Google for "Obamacare disaster" lists over 92 million hits, and what I read about the source code of the website in question can not be expressed using decent language.
If something like this can happen, after decades of progress in information technology and reaching the goal of wiretapping the global communications by the NSA? It is, when the contract has been won without a call for bids by a company (author's note: CGI Federal) which has on its management team a former Princeton colleague of Mrs. Obama.
Now that we've seen how happy the users of the medical services are, how are things looking on the other side of the barricade? The doctors are unhappy with the law, because they don't know how they are going to get paid. The consequence? Many have refused to participate in this program.
One of the most virulent critics of the Act is neurosurgeon Ben Carson, former head of the pediatrics neurosurgery department of the hospital of the Johns Hopkins University. "Obamacare is the worst thing that ever happened to this country since slavery", doctor Carson said. "In a way, this is slavery, because it makes us obedient for the government. The goal of this program was never to ensure healthcare, only control", Carson said.
The opinions of professor Carson could be considered extremist, according to the new "societal" norms in the US, but his stance is indirectly supported by the members of Congress. The American press repeatedly wrote about "confidential negotiations of the members of Congress, from both parties, in order to become exempt from registering in the new government program". In other words, just as it happens in certain backwater regions in Eastern Europe, lawmakers don't want to obey the laws they issue for the use of the "mob"?
President Obama also said that the new law will not lead to an increase in the federal budget deficit, even though it includes granting some significant subsidies to the under-privileged. And yet, what does a recent report by the Government Accountability Office say? That "in the long run, the budget deficit will increase by 6.2 trillion dollars". No comment!
The effects of Obamacare are not confined, however, to the ones that are immediately noticeable, such as the new labyrinth of bureaucracy, websites costing hundreds of millions that don't work or the increase of the insurance premiums.
"The employers in several Districts (author's note: of the Federal Reserve) have cited the uncertainty over the effects of the ACA as the reasons behind the planned layoffs and the hesitations in the creation of new jobs", according to the latest analysis of the economic conditions coming from the Federal Reserve (a.n. Beige Book, October 16th, 2013). Could it mean that even the Federal Reserve is criticizing the grandiose plan to ensure universal healthcare for Americans?
In a classic slasher movie, which is often rerun at this time of year ("A Nightmare on Elm Street"), Freddy Krueger kills his victims in their own dreams, which causes them to die in the real world as well. Krueger is almost invulnerable in the dream world, just like some presidents are in the world of electoral promises.
The nightmare is now as real as it can be, and Obamacare seems to be the last step towards wresting America away from Americans. Today's America has nothing to do with the America that the world's downtrodden have dreamed of throughout history.
The collision between reality and Obamacare will prove, once again, that socialist policies do not lead to welfare nor do they protect our health, and the victims need to look for help elsewhere, because the new insurance contracts do not cover this kind of cases.
Welcome to your nightmare!

va doresc o moarte lenta si dureroasa BURSA.
