The rediscovery of roots, including musical ones, is crucial for the formation of young individuals. From December 16th to 17th, 2023, the 15th edition of the project "Small Week of Early Music" will take place at the Student Culture House in Bucharest. This project is dedicated to young people and beyond, aiming to discover old music presented and explained in an accessible manner to the general public. According to the organizers: "In the noisy and unsettling assault of contemporary times, when the harmony and joy of music are set aside in favor of noise, when the contemporary rushes us through life or when the millions of beats nail us in front of the light radiation for relaxation, we try to return to the sources of culture, rediscovering and recovering cultural identities. We want to restore to young people, and not only to them, the joy of the past music, of life, to restore the European cultural identity. In addition to enriching the musical education of young people, music will bring joy to people's souls."
The concerts will bring to the contemporary scene the spirit of old music from Asia and Europe from the 13th to the 19th centuries, from different places (Romania, Spain, France, Italy, England, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Turkey, Hungary, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia), through different interpretations on instruments specific to those eras. These performances will also be a history lesson on cultural identities. Additionally, a small exhibition of old musical instruments used by troubadours will run in parallel. The concerts will be held in the Student Club hall of the Student Culture House in Bucharest.
