Subway passengers may have to wait longer for their train in a few months as maintenance provider Alstom will gradually suspend services because the subway company is behind with their bill payments. If Metrorex fails to pay the bull for the third contractual year (June 1st 2006 - June 30th 2007), Alstom will give them a 30 day notice to make payment and, if nothing happens, proceed with the service downgrade.
Metrorex owes some 15 million EUR to the maintenance company and, according to their management, steps have been taken to obtain the necessary funds, concurrently with meetings with Alstom in a move to convince them to continue providing maintenance for the subway trains.
