"PA&CO International" wins 40 million lei auction to rehabilitate County Road DJ208

The National Arbitration Council rejected claims of several companies which participated in the call for tenders for the modernization of County Road DJ 208, and awarded the contract to "PA&CO International", owned by Bacău businessman Costel Căşuneanu. This road of regional interest crosses the county of Ia i and connects the counties of Neamţ and Suceava.

The company won the call for tenders with an offer worth 40.2 million lei, VAT excluded, but the auction was challenged by "Tehnologica Radion" SRL, "Sorocam" SRL and the "Gebruder Haider Bauunternehmung GMBH - SC Henglmin" SRL joint-venture. Their complaints were deemed unfounded by the National Arbitration Commission, as they were submitted too late. However the officials of these companies can challenge the decision of the Commission within 10 days.

The rehabilitation of DJ 208 will be funded using structural funds secured as part of the Priority Axis 2 of the Regional Operational Program 2007-2012, and the resources of the County Council of Ia i.

The main works which will be performed as part of this project concern the reinforcement of the road structure, the correction of the geometrical elements, the leveling of the road"s surface, the collection and draining of rainwater, the placing of road signs as well as bridge repairs.

The DJ 208 county road crosses the communes of Mirceşti, Hălăuceşti, Mogoşeşti-Siret, Stolniceni-Prăjescu, until the entry into the city of Paşcani, and after its exits Paşcani, it crosses Valea Seacă and Lespezi. DJ 208 has a total length of 41.52 kilometers. The works are expected to last 24 months.
