Cash and online payment provider PayPoint Romania gained 14 major customers last year, launched its bill payment services nationwide, and expanded its terminal network under its own brand across Romania. At the end of the fiscal year April 2008 - March 2009, PayPoint Romania had 5,702 terminals across Romania, up 42% compared to last year, with 2,000 of them bearing the PayPoint brand.
PayPoint PLC posted total earnings of GBP 224 million (EUR 257 million), up 7% YOY, on the back of a 10% YOY increase in the number of processed transactions. The company"s operating profit stood at GBP 33 million (EUR 38 million), up 20% YOY.
"Paypoint continued its strong expansion in 2008. Revenues, margins, profit and dividends increased, and the company beat its growth estimates for its UK and Northern Ireland network. Our Romanian network continued to grow, with an emphasis on the development of cash bill payment services in August 2008, under the PayPoint brand, for which we already concluded contracts with 14 major customers," said David Newlands, Chairman of PayPoint PLC.
The company officially launched its service for cash payment of bills under its own brand name in August 2008, and has expanded its customer portfolio by entering partnership agreements with companies in various sectors, including utilities, financial services and insurance, cable TV and mobile telecommunications operators.
Some of PayPoint"s current customers include E.ON Gaz Romania, E.ON Furnizare Moldova, Allianz Tiriac, Enel Energie, Romtelecom, UPC Romania, Zapp Mobile and GDF Suez Energy Romania.
PayPoint also provides complete services for recharging prepaid phone cards for all the players in the telecom industry that feature this type of product (Cosmote, Orange, Vodafone and Zapp), as well as electronic top up for fixed-line telephony providers that offer international and internet access, such as EasyComm, Nobel and Worldtelecom (Number One). PayPoint also provides the service of issuing electronic vouchers for FocuS Sat customers using prepaid DTH (Direct-To-Home) services.
