Bucharest-based oil company Petrom, part of OMV Group, reported for 2006 a net profit 671 million EUR (2,28 billion RON), up 61% from 2005. In the last three months of 2006, the company"s net profit amounted to 289 million RON, compared to only 11 million RON reported for the corresponding period of the previous year.
High crude oil prices and the continuous sales growth lead to a 47% increase in the profit registered before interest and taxes (EBIT), to 2,77 billion RON. For 2006, the oil company reported a turnover of 13 billion RON (up 22% year-on-year), of which 26% was obtained between October and December 2006 (up 18% compared to the corresponding period of 2005).
