Petru Prunea, the former chairman of "Broker" Cluj Napoca (BRK), presented his objections to the accusations of the National Securities Commission (CNVM), through an appeal filed with the commission in the beginning of this month.
Mr. Prunea feels that most of the accusations are related to the brokerage firm"s internal audit, and, given the fact that he opposed all the Board"s decisions which were "harmful" to the company, "he can"t find any convenient explanation for being singled out for punishment, while the other members of the board received no sanctions."
Prunea also called attention to the fact that CNVM wrongfully interpreted the bank transfers made into the company"s general account. He maintains that CNVM reached the erroneous conclusion that "SSIF Broker did not separately record the company"s funds from those of its customers".
"Instead of challenging and emphasizing the legality and fairness of the two bank transfers that are the issue here, CNVM is twisting the truth, in order to justify the application of sanctions that someone else wanted or asked for", Prunea said.
The irregularities uncovered by the Romanian Securities Commission (CNVM) at some of the offices "Broker" cost Petru Prunea his Chairman - General Director seat, as CNVM issued a five year ban from the stock market against him.
