Tyre maker Pirelli Tyres Romania ended 2006 with a turnover of 60.36 million RON (17.1 million EUR) and losses of 18.49 million RON (5.25 million EUR). The company has a share capital of 77.16 million RON.
The Italian group Pirelli became one of the most important investors in the auto parts industry in October 2006, when it opened a after opening a tyre plant in Slatina. The investment amounted to 170 million EUR.
Last year, the plant manufactured 300.000 tyres for brands like BMW, Daimler-Chrysler and Jaguar. The company estimates that production will reach 2 million units this year and 4.5 million by 2008.
