Plastsistem, a member of Teraplast Group - Bistrita, has opened a new factory to expand production of thermo insulating panels following an investment of 4.6 million EUR. The facility is located on a 3,100 sq.m. plot in a 25,000 sq.m. compound near Saratel, on DN15A Bistrita - Reghin. The site also includes a workshop producing metal structures (600 sq.m.) and a new office building of 380 sq.m.
According to General Manager Andrei Rusu, the investment marks the transformation of Plastsistem from a leading building and installation materials distributor into a leading manufacturer of such products. He added that the recently approved development strategy for 2007 - 2012 included the addition of production operations, a new brand strategy and ambitious objectives in terms of both production and distribution in order to match the fast growth of the construction market.
The product portfolio includes metal structures for industrial facilities, roofing solutions, insulators, aluminum joinery, industrial doors and rainwater collection systems. The insulation panel factory is equipped with high-end PU.MA Italy lines and can produce 600,000 sq.m. / year / shift with only two engineers and four operators.
The investment amounted to 4.6 million EUR, placing among the most important in the county over the past few years. Approximately 27% of the funds came from the company"s own resources, whereas the remaining 3.3 million EUR was borrowed from Unicredit.
Plastsistem is aiming for a 10-11% market share in about three years for insulation panels, which would equal 1 million sq.m. in output in 2010. Last year"s turnover was 8.6 million EUR.
