The vice-president of PSD, Victor Ponta, asked the current government to honor its "promise" made nine or ten months ago, when the PD-L - PSD government passed a decision to guarantee the loan of Oltchim.
Victor Ponta made this request at the beginning of the session of the National Executive Committee of the PSD, which is taking place in Căciulata, in the county of Vâlcea.
Victor Ponta made the following statement, as quoted by Agerpres: "I think that our main request to the current government, which we were a part of, would be to implement the measures to support Oltchim, which are important for the future of the area. Failure to do that will make it extremely difficult for the inhabitants of the city to survive ".
The social-democrat leader reminded that the chairman of the Vâlcea division of the PSD, Ion Câlea, attended numerous times the meetings of the government coalition at the time and presented the company"s situation and he was promised action would be taken to solve the company"s difficulties.
The president of the PSD expressed his hope that this promise made by the Boc government won"t remain "just a lie".
Victor Ponta said: "I think what is happening in Vâlcea is a smaller scale reproduction of what is happening in the rest of the country. Unfortunately, of everything that was promised, nothing was done".
O June 3rd, 2009, the Government approved a memorandum intended to finalize the procedures for sending to the European Commission the preliminary notice of the plan to provide a state guarantee to chemical plant Oltchim Râmnicu Vâlcea, which is owned by the state.
