President Pezeshkian: "Iran is not belligerent, but firmly opposes any threat"

Versiunea în limba română

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian pointed out in a post on X/Twitter that following the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) missile attack on Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should know that Iran is not belligerent but firmly opposes any threat , according to IRAN's national news agency, IRNA.

Masoud Pezeshkian wrote: "The attack, based on legitimate rights and for the purpose of peace and security for Iran and the region, was a decisive response to the aggression of the Zionist regime. This action was in defense of Iran's interests and citizens."

The Iranian president warned the authorities in Tel Aviv: "This attack is only a corner of our power. Do not enter into a conflict with Iran."

The problems in the Middle East are caused by the presence in the region of the United States and some European countries "who are false pretenders to peace and tranquility", said the leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, according to the Iranian Mehr news agency.

Khamenei added that if the respective states withdraw their presence in this region, without a doubt these conflicts, wars and clashes will disappear completely.

For his part, Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri - the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces - warned that he would hit all Israeli infrastructure in the occupied Palestinian territories, if the authorities in Tel Aviv reacted armed to the attack on Tuesday evening.

The Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces warned: "If the Zionist regime, which has reached the maximum level of insanity, is not controlled by the United States and Europe and wants to continue such crimes or take measures against our sovereignty and territorial integrity, the operation from tonight it will repeat itself on a much larger scale and all its infrastructures will be affected."

For his part, Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, said, according to the cited source, that he expects stability in the region in the coming days.

Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh says the Islamic Republic will respond decisively if the Israeli regime reacts to the recent missile attack. "Operation True Promise 2 was conducted within the framework of international laws," said Brigadier General Nasirzadeh yesterday, who continued that the entire action was rational and based on the provisions of the UN Charter. He stated that 90% of the missiles successfully hit the established targets in Israel, with only military positions targeted, specifically three military bases and a Mossad base.

The risk of a war in the Middle East is high, given that, after Israel's attack on Iran, the representatives of the two states do not seem willing to make efforts to de-escalate the conflict situation, but continue to threaten each other, say Al Jazeera journalists.

"Israel Pledges to Respond to Iran's Missile Barrage; Tehran threatens repeated attacks "with multiplied intensity".

Israel and Iran have issued threats of retaliation, pushing long-standing concerns about escalation to a regional war to new heights. (...) Meanwhile, Israel resumed its attacks on Lebanon on Wednesday and announced that it was sending additional troops to carry out the ground offensive it launched on Tuesday," the quoted source said.

In this context, the Hezbollah armed group said yesterday that its fighters clashed directly with Israeli forces in Lebanon for the first time since 2006. Also yesterday, Israeli air raids continued in southern Lebanon and Beirut, with the suburbs of the capital being bombed for to cause further losses to the Hezbollah group.
