EnglishProges, an importer and distributor of interior decorations and finishings estimates a two-fold increase in this year"s turnover to 80 million EUR, in line with the substantial growth of the Romanian market for such products, Marketing Manager Annamaria Anton-Bako announced on Thursday.
"Laminated floor tiles and accessories account for some 50% of the Proges sales. Late last year we also introduced carpets and linoleum and we expect that they will soon pick up and become strong sales hooks," she said.
Anton-Bako believes that the financing for such products in Romania is still in an incipient phase as "Romanians prefer to pay cash for such products." Business projections indicate that the turnover will continue to increase in sync with the development of the construction market. "We expect this trend to be more obvious in Bucharest and the large cities at first and then expand to the rest of the country by 2010," she added.
Proges currently has 47 stores and 11 regional warehouses. The company employs some 600 people.
