The delayed projects, which are at risk of not being implemented in the three years in which we have to complete the implementation of the PNRR, would be moved to the programs of the Cohesion Policy, in order to benefit from a three-year extended horizon, announced yesterday through a press release, the Ministry of Investments and European Projects, which stated that Brussels Commission officials would agree to this measure following the discussion with Minister Adrian Câciu.
"We are already in August 2023, and the reforms and investments financed by the PNRR must be implemented by August 2026. This means that Romania still has exactly three years to achieve the targets and milestones assumed by the PNRR. Precisely for this reason, pragmatism, commitment and dialogue are needed. This approach is also shared by the representatives of the European Commission who, in the last two months, have been in constant dialogue with MIPE to achieve these objectives. In this context, I thank both the representatives of the Commission and the coordinators of reforms and investments for the fact that they understood that the delayed investments, which are at risk of not being implemented in the three years in which we have to complete the implementation of the PNRR, must be moved to the programs of The Cohesion Policy, in order to benefit from a horizon extended by three years", said Minister Adrian Câciu, according to the quoted source.
According to Minister Câciu, the PNRR amendment includes "the reduction of the grant component, by proposing the identification of quantitative targets that will instead be financed from the Cohesion Policy".
"Thus, Romania will have more time to fulfill them, given that the investments and reforms assumed within the PNRR must be completed by August 2026, and the investments financed by European funds can be completed by December 2029", the minister stated Investments and European Projects.
