The Ministry of Education announced last week the public consultation of the project regarding the establishment of base salaries for teaching leadership positions in state pre-university education. According to the institution: "The Ministry of Education submits to public consultation the draft Government Decision amending GD no. 598/2018 approving the Methodological Norms for establishing the base salaries for the leadership positions of the director and deputy director in pre-university public education, as well as for establishing the categories of pre-university education units where auxiliary leadership positions of chief accountant and chief secretary are normed, with S/M level of studies and the base salary levels related to them." According to the cited source, the draft decision aims to approve the methodological norms for establishing the base salaries for the leadership positions of the director and deputy director in state pre-university education, as well as for establishing the categories of pre-university education units where auxiliary leadership positions of chief accountant and chief secretary are normed, with S/M level of studies and the base salary levels related to them, following the application of Emergency Ordinance no. 128/2023. The project establishes base salaries for each leadership position for each grade and each category of educational institution. For the salaries of leadership positions, the principle has been applied that the base salaries of these positions should be above the maximum level of base salaries for executive positions with homeroom duties, to eliminate existing inequalities in December 2023, says the Ministry of Education. ""Through the current normative act project, for director leadership positions in January 2024, there is a minimum base salary of 10,590 lei and a maximum base salary of 11,242 lei, the difference between them being 652 lei, and in June 2024, there is a minimum base salary of 11,260 lei and a maximum base salary of 11,812 lei, the difference between them being 552 lei,'' the cited source specifies. Salary increases are recorded for all leadership positions found in the project, the Ministry of Education reports. ""We mention that the base salaries for the leadership positions provided in Annexes no. 1 and 2 to the methodological norms do not exceed the maximum base salary provided in Emergency Ordinance no. 128/2023. The level of base salaries for the leadership positions provided in Annexes no. 1 and 2 to the methodological norms was established by modifying the salaries depending on the categories of pre-university education units where auxiliary leadership positions of chief accountant and chief secretary are normed, with S level of studies, taking into account the complexity and diversity of the activities of the personnel holding these positions,'' the cited source further states. In a Facebook post, the Ministry of Education states that the Government decision project corrects salary inequalities regarding leadership positions in the pre-university education system.
