Raiffeisen Bank Romania posted a net profit of 47.2 million EUR in the first six months, up 2.7 times from 17.5 million EUR in the same period last year, mainly due to network expansion, according to a company press release. Profit before tax amounted to 53.5 million EUR, increasing 2.5 times from 21 million EUR in the same period last year.
Total assets rose by 23.4% to 3.94 billion EUR i8n the first six months. Loans to customers totalled 2.1 billion EUR, recording a 35% increase from the corresponding period of 2006. Deposits rose by 36% to over 3 billion EUR. Net interest income rose by 31% to nearly 87 million EUR, while fee and commission income amounted to 84 million EUR, up 56% from the first half of 2006.
The bank opened 71 new units in the first six months and thus expanded its network to 337 units. The number of employees increased to 5,145, from 4,678 in June last year. Currently, the bank has over 2 million retail customers, of which approximately 116,000 are SME"s and 5,000 are medium and large corporations.
Raiffeisen International posted a consolidated net profit of 401 million EUR in the firstr half of 2007, thus marking a 39% rise from H1 2006. Raiffeisen International is present in Romania through Raiffeisen Bank Romania, Raiffeisen Banca pentru Locuinte, Raiffeisen Leasing, Raiffeisen Capital & Investment, Raiffeisen Asset Management and Raiffeisen Investment Romania.
