Record number of "freshman" students for UMFST

In the fall, the crops are gathered and the students are counted. The rector of the University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Sciences and Technology "George Emil Palade" from Târgu Mures, Leonard Azamfirei, declared during the opening ceremony of the academic year, that the institution achieved a record, by entering the first year of the largest number of students from UMFST history, approximately 4,000. According to Leonard Azamfirei: "Today, almost 4,000 first-year students enter the university. Of these, 3,225 are in undergraduate programs. It is the largest number of students entering the first year in the history of this university. We look at this not only through the prism of the quantity, the number of students, but above all through a message of interest, of appreciation, of trust that those who come to UMFST Târgu Mureş give us through this opening that we have today was more beautiful than today, when I see in front of me students, teaching staff, military staff. Today's university is coming to life, just as the city of Târgu Mureş is getting vibrancy starting from this day when we open the academic year. I suspect that there are strong arguments for the local authorities to understand that this is a university city by definition, by itself, and this title must be found not only in words, but also in what happens for the university, for the city". The rector said that the new academic year at UMFST Târgu Mureş begins with a series of novelties, with new study programs, such as a bachelor's program in the field of psychology, a series of new master's level study programs, namely Medical Humanity , military medical assistance, pharmacovigilance and specialized medical assistance. He emphasized that the new academic year also begins with new regulations, some of which are the consequence of the higher education law, which are to be applied progressively in each institution, but others, which derive from the commitment of the university administration, for the application of the RESTRART IQ reform: "It is the reform which goes to the depth of university education in this university. We start the academic year with new regulations regarding clinical education, with new regulations regarding training and promotion in the didactic and university career, with what we have to do in order to be a relevant university not only at the national level, but also at the international level".
