Rolling stock maker "Remarul 16 Februarie" (symbol: REFE) won a call for tenders of 295 million lei (around 70 million Euros), held by "CFR Călători", at the end of 2010. "Remarul" will sell to the Romanian state owned railway company several self-propelled Diesel engines adapted to the Romanian tracks, according to the announcement for the awarding of the framework agreement. The latter will be valid until the end of 2012, and during that period several other subsequent contracts will be concluded between the company of Cluj and "CFR Călători".
"Remarul 16 Februarie" was the only company that submitted a tender, according to the announcement of the awarding of the call for tenders. The contract had an initial estimated value of 277 million Euros, which was later increased by 18.2 million lei.
At the end of 2010, the management of "Remarul" has announced that it has succeeded in getting the exclusive rights of manufacturing and selling trains under the "Bombardier" license to five countries in Romania and in five other states in the Balkan region, by entering an agreement with the Canadian company.
"Remarul 16 Februarie" (REFE) is listed on the Rasdaq, with a market capitalization of 41.51 million lei, according to the price of 20.3 lei/share of Friday"s trading session.
"Transferoviar Grup" Cluj Napoca holds 32.96% of the shares of REFE, and Monica Băiculescu holds 32% of the company.
