Resident players again dominated the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) with over 75% of the overall volume of transactions reported for August, in both categories, "sell" and "buy," according to a statistical report released by the BSE. Specifically, resident investors bought stock worth 414.27 million RON and sold stock worth 445.8 million RON, thus rendering a negative balance.
For comparison, in July, residents bought stock worth 239 million RON and sold by 8 million RON more. The significant increase in the quotation of most of the listed stock generated an increase in the number of bourse players. Specifically, the number of "buy" accounts opened by resident individuals increased by 866 in August to a total of 6,733.
Foreign investors generated only 18% of the overall volume of transactions through purchases of 124.12 million RON and sales of 83.5 million RON. Both values increased two times from the previous months.
The overall value of transactions performed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange since the beginning of the year stands at 2.97 billion RON. The overall turnover logged for August is 547.8 million RON.
