Yesterday, at the Parliament's palace, the United Arab Emirates have inaugurated the exhibition, "Dubai - the Capital of the World Exhibition", on which occasion Romania has announced its support of Dubai in hosting the International Exhibition EXPO 2020.

Dubai is one of the largest cities in the world, uniquely positioned between the quickly developing Chinese market, the opportunities provided by the the African continent and the developing area of Latin America.

His Excellency, Mr. Yacub Yousif ALHosani, the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Romania, said on this occasion: "The relations between the United Arab Emirates and Romania have continued to grow over the last two years on several levels and through various mechanisms. There have been mutual visits from officials of both countries and an impressive jump has been seen in the economic bilateral relations, not just when it comes to the volume of bilateral commercial exchanges, but it has also included areas of cooperation and investment, air transport and continued sustained growth of tourism, and has included areas of cooperation and investments, air transport and sustained economic growth of tourism, among which we mention the company "Porturile Dubai DP World" of Constanţa, Romania and the Fly Dubai airline. The International Expo fairs are held every five years, drawing millions of visitors. In the history of this exhibition, the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia have not hosted the event.

That is why the city of Dubai has offered to host the event, which is why the United Arab Emirates have launched a national campaign, and have adopted the slogan "Connecting minds and creating the future".

The exhibition of Dubai will focus on three axes: the durability and opportunities to find permanent sources of energy and water; mobility and transports, the intelligent transport and logistical services systems; opportunities and the possibility to find new ways to obtain economic growth.

Dubai will allocate between 2 billion Euros (7.35 billion UAE Dirhams) and 4 billion dollars for infrastructure, if it wins the Exhibition for World Expo 2020, the emirate officials said.

World Expo is an international exhibition without commercial purposes which is intended to promote exchanges of ideas and the development of the world economy, culture, science and technology, and which allows exhibitors to display their creations and to strengthen their international relations. The event of 2020 will last 6 months (January 4th - June 30th), and is held every five years.

Dubai is competing with four other cities which have submitted their applications: Ayutthaya (Thailanda), Ekaterinburg (Russia), Izmir (Turkey) and Sao Paulo (Brazil). The winner will be announced by the BIE in November 2013, after the voting of 160 member states.
