Romania-Ukraine Agreement on the Development of Electronic Communications and Cooperation in Digitalization

Digitalization is a major focus for countries worldwide, and collaboration in this field is crucial. Bogdan Ivan, the Romanian Minister of Research, Innovation, and Digitalization, and Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister for Innovations, Education Development, Science and Technology, and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, have signed an agreement on the development of electronic communications and cooperation in the areas of digitalization and cybersecurity. The agreement aims to strengthen the ties between the two countries in the digitalization and cybersecurity spheres, as well as to expand cooperation between Romania and Ukraine.

"Through the signed Agreement with our Ukrainian counterpart, Romania strengthens its position as a regional hub for emerging technologies and cybersecurity. Thus, we are laying the groundwork for a mechanism through which the European Union will finance concrete projects for technological and knowledge transfer to Ukraine, projects in which Romania will be a leading partner," stated Bogdan Ivan, the Minister of Research, Innovation, and Digitalization.

The agreement provides the basis for close and concrete collaboration between institutions responsible for IT&C infrastructure, digitalization, and cybersecurity in both countries. The main areas of action include: Increasing the resilience and protection of digital infrastructure in Ukraine and Romania.Enhancing the cybersecurity protection level of networks and national infrastructures in Ukraine and Romania.Developing cloud infrastructure for electronic public services. Exchanging experiences regarding policy development in the field of electronic communications and emerging technologies.
