EnglishSales of new cars on the Romanian market gained 23.3% in the first seven months of the year, compared to the corresponding period of 2006, to a total of 206,089 units, according to the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Associations (APIA).
The heavy truck (over 18 ton) segment surged 151.8%, whereas sales of utility vehicles between 3.5 and 6 tons inched up 4.6%. On the car segment, sales amounted to 177,685 units, up by 22.4 percent.
Domestic production amounted to 143,651 units, up by 10.9% year-on-year, whereas exports gained 42.8%
