Romcar, the Ford importer in Romania, estimates sales of 26,000 units for this year, up by 19.6% y/y and by 1,000 units more than previous estimates, company officials announced. Last year"s sales amounted to 21,732 units, up by 69.2% y/y. Fiesta was the best selling model.
"It"s hard to say what Ford sales will be in 2008 (...). I believe we will reach 22,000 - 25,000 units," Romcar CEO Catalin Gavra said in end-September 2007. According to him, sales will be influenced by the beginning of production at the former Daewoo factory in Craiova.
Ford"s sales and service network comprises 33 integrated auto centers, each having a sales area, a service and a parts and accessories area. Plans for 2008 include an expansion to 45 sites. Romcar has represented Ford in Romanai since 1992 and imports 14 Ford models.
