Romcar, the Ford importer to Romania, estimates sales of 18,000 units this year, up by 40% y/y following a 56% growth in sales in H1, according to CEO Catalin Gavra. "Considering the current market growth rate, the new target is 18,000 units, but we do have some constraints because in end-2006 we announced Ford we were going to sell some 16,000 units in 2007. Then we increased the projection to 17,000 and now to 18,000. The problem is that the production capacity does not allow for such frequent increases in quotas," he said.

Eight months through the year, Romcar sold 12.648 units, up by 56% y/y. Fiesta spearheaded sales with 4.200 units, followed by Focus with 3,100 units. The new Mondeo secured 630 customers in the first two months after launch. Romcar is part of Tiriac Auto Group and has 26 dealerships across the country.
