Romgaz has released estimates indicating a Y2008 gas production of 5.85 billion cubic meters (gross extraction), of which 5.775 billion cubic meters was delivered to the market, while the rest was used for technological consumption. Romgaz officials told Bursa that the estimated value of the gas production sold in 2008 was 2,564,513,000 RON (some 700 million EUR).
By the end of November 2008, Romgaz had spent 658,330,000 RON (some 180 million EUR) for investments. The main investment targets included a diversification of natural gas resources and strategic reserves through intensified geological research, the improvement of overall safety measures, the development of existing storage facilities, the construction of new storage facilities and the reduction of the environmental impact.
Between 2007 and 2008, the company discovered 15 new gas deposits estimated to contain some six billion cubic meters of gas, which is the equivalent of one year of production. Most of the new deposits are located in Moldavia. From this point of view, 2008 was a very fruitful year for the company. Romgaz announced the discovery of a new deposit in Roman - Batranesti, where preliminary data point to an extraction potential of 200,000 cubic meters per day. The company also took over three oil concessions in Slovakia, Poland and Bacau - Romania. Romgaz also started last summer investments of over five million RON in new exploration and extraction sites in Sibiu County and Neamt County.
Romgaz announced an estimated turnover of 3.32 billion RON for 2008, up by 1.6% from 2007. The estimated gross profit is 758 billion RON, down by 3.6% from 2007.
