Rombat, the leading car battery manufacturer in Romania, reported a 57% increase in turnover compared to the 30.9 million EUR posted in 2006. The company estimates to reach some 87 million EUR by 2010.
"The increase in turnover is the result of the investment program made in 2006, when some 2 million EUR was invested. Last year"s investment budget was much more than that, in the range of 6.5 million EUR, given the increasing demand for battery both domestically and on export markets. This investment will eventually lead to a 50% increase in production," said Ioan Repede, the CEO of Rombat.
The company has 55% of the Romanian market for car batteries and manages to export a significant part of the output to France, Portugal, Belgium, Bulgaria, Italy, Germany, Austria, Moldova and Greece. Rombat is also the single battery supplier to Dacia Renault.
