Rompetrol Rafinare turnover up by 63%

Rompetrol Rafinare, part of the Rompetrol Group, logged a consolidated turnover of 3,76 billion dollars between for the January - September period, up 63% from the 2007 turnover of the same period, according to the financial report published yesterday. At the same time, the company"s operating profit (EBITDA) reached 79 million dollars.

According to the representatives of the company, the numbers were affected by several foreign factors, regardless of the activity of the refinery, such as the record-breaking evolution of crude oil, up 65% from the period of January - September 2007, the exchange rate differences and the influence of the international financial crisis.

The refining segment posted a record-breaking level of 3.3 million tons of processed feedstock, up 16% from the same period last year, even as the refinery stopped working for 10 days in July for the modernization of some installations. For this year, the company has planned the processing of 4.1 million tons of feedstock (3.94 million tons of crude oil), and by 2010 it intends to reach 5 million tons/year, the press release also stated.

The fuel production afferent to the refining segment for the January - September period grew by 9 % compared to the the same period of 2007, up to a level of more than 2.26 million tons.

In the first nine months of the year, Rompetrol Rafinare remained an important tax payer, the total amount paid by the company being 940 million dollars, up 23% compared to last year.
