EnglishRompetrol Upstream and Zeta Petroleum SRL - Romania, a subsidiary of the British-based Zeta Petroleum Ltd, have started drilling with the exploratory derrick Baleni 1 (Mehedinti) in the Zegujani perimeter. Zeta Petroleum and Rompetrol Upstram will jointly finance and operate the Baleni 1, which is intended to go down to 1,300 meters. The purpose of the exploratory operation is to investigate potential natural gas deposits documented in the "70s. Rompetrol received the Zegujani concession in 2004 under an agreement for exploration, development and drilling with the National Agency for Mineral Resources. The perimeter measures 1,800 sq.km.
