English"Groupe Danone" SA, the world"s largest producer of yogurt, reports growing earnings for the first semester of 2010, due to its rising sales on markets such as Indonesia and China.
The net profit of the French company increased to 848 million Euros (1.1 billion dollars), from 722 million Euros in H1 2009.
The organic sales of the company, excluding acquisitions and foreign currency fluctuations, increased 7%, to 8.36 billion Euros. The sales of the fresh dairy productss division, which is the largest of "Danone", increased 7.1%, to 4.8 billion Euros.
In Europe, the main market of the group, its sales increased 1.7%, to 4.695 billion Euros. In Asia, the increase was 13.8%, to 1.16 billion Euros. In the other regions, the company"s overall sales increased 16%, to 2.51 billion Euros. 40% of the sales of "Danone" come from emerging markets.
"Danone" expects its sales for the year 2010 to increase at least 6%, up from its earlier forecast of at least 5% growth.
