Sârbu: Budget Rectification, IMF Agreement Do Not Affect Minimum Pension

Local agencies of the Public Pension Company have started distributing 433,338 pension cards to those entitled to the minimum pension of 300 RON and the standard pension cards including the increase of the pension point to 718.40 RON to all pensioners, Labour Minister Marian Sarbu announced yesterday.

The minimum pension will become 350 RON between 1 October and 31 December. Additionally, 692,285 retired farmers and State employees will receive a 90 RON supplement, the minister told NewsIn. He emphasized that the minimum pension had not been affected in any way by the budget rectification or the agreement with the IMF.

The minister also stated that, as of 1 October 2008, 217,541 pensioners Class 1 and 2 had benefitted from an average pension raise of 57 RON. As of February 2009, 409,938 persons had received a pension raise of 48 RON. Sarbu further said that pensions would increase for 546,000 people as of June 2009 and for 418,000 people as of October 2009.
