Still no end to the woes of those who bought homes in the "Planorama" residential project. The group of 50 buyers that asked for explanations from "Euro Habitat", drew a blank again, as the Israeli investors did not show up for the meeting scheduled for Monday, said Dragoş Dehelean, one of the buyers and managing partner of "Selenis".
He said: "I, for one, have already discussed with a lawyer and a court executor. I don"t want the apartment anymore; I just want my money back. I"ve decided to ask for the seizing of the accounts of Euro Habitat and ask for the company to be declared bankrupt. I am now waiting for the decision of judges on the seizure of the accounts, which is scheduled for the beginning of September. Several of the 50 buyers will pursue this avenue to get their money back. The others insist they receive their homes. I paid 94,000 Euros, or 92% of the total price of the apartment, and the home was supposed to be ready two years ago. I do not know the reasons behind this delay and I was not allowed access to the apartment".
Dragoş Deheleanu says he does not expect to see his money back any time soon, as the developer"s accounts are empty, and the banks hold the mortgages over the apartments. Mr. Drago Deleheanu said he hopes the competent authorities will do their job and investigate this case. The buyers intend to organize protests at the Embassy of Israel and to continue to pressure "Euro Habitat" in order to have it solve the situation. Mr. Deleanu said that the official of "Euro Habitat" has called for a meeting with the customers scheduled for next Monday.
The "Planorama" project was launched in 2005 and was scheduled to be completed in 2007. The complex includes four 15-stories blocks with about 1,000 apartments. The troubles began in 2007, when Turkish developer Yapitek entered bankruptcy. The company had over 7.5 million Euros in debt, as well 47.6 million Euros in downpayments from customers.
Buyers have chosen the company "Danya Cerebus" to take over the development of the project and to continue with the execution of the project.
"Euro Habitat" is part of "BSR Engineering and Development", whose majority shareholder is Eitan Eldar. "BSR" run real estate operations in eight countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
Euro Habitat requests a correction:
"Euro Habitat is not part of BSR Engineering and Development, as erroneously stated in the article "Several buyers of homes in the Planorama project will request the bankruptcy of Euro Habitat", which appeared in the edition of August 13th, 2009. The two companies only have a contractual relationship. BSR Engineering and Development is a management company with a distinct legal personality, which recently took over the administration of the Planorama - Doamna Ghica project and whose main responsibility is to handle the management and operations of this project, in order to help rescue the project and see it through to completion".
