The spokesperson of the University of Bucharest, Bogdan Oprea, stated: "The Senate of the University of Bucharest (UB) decided, de jure, to revalidate the decision to withdraw the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa (DHC) granted by the University of Bucharest to Nicolae Ceauşescu. This decision validates the one from December 1989 - January 1990, which, although it could not be identified in the archive, was de facto in force all this time".
The final and irrevocable conviction of Nicolae Ceauşescu on December 25, 1989 is, according to the cited source, among the explicit cases of withdrawal of the honorary titles of DHC granted, according to the Regulations of the University of Bucharest in the field. Nicolae Ceauşescu did not appear, even until now, on the official list, published including on the website www.unibuc.ro, of holders of the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Bucharest.
