Sika Romania, a company headquartered in Bra ov, has announced that its turnover for the current year would reach 24 million Euros, up 30% from last year. However the growth rate failed to meet the forecasted 40% growth made at the beginning of the year, as the demand for construction material has significantly shrunk lately.
For the coming year, the company expects the turnover to reach 29 million Euros, or a 20% increase. "We had already forecasted a slowing growth for next year, so there was no need for a relevant adjustment of the budget", Ileana Nicolae, General Manager of Sika Romania, recently stated. Although the company expects a shrinking of orders coming from the structural engineering market, it estimates demand from the infrastructure sector, where several major projects are expected to unfold, might compensate for the former. Ileana Nicolae has stated that the company will heavily invest in people and in their professional development, but will also focus on improving the quality of its services. For this purpose, the company has commissioned a chemical laboratory, a concrete and industrial adhesives.
Since its entry on the Romanian market, the company has invested over 2 million Euros in Brasov, where it holds a production unit, the headquarters and the main warehouse. The company also holds a sales center and a warehouse in Bucharest and sales offices in Timişoara, Cluj, Iaşi, Constanţa and Craiova.
Sika entered the market in 2002 with a sales office in Bucharesti, by taking over the company Heidelberger Construction Materials. Sika comprises two divisions - the Constructions Division and the Industrial Division - with a comprehensive product portfolio, ranging from adhesives for mortars and engineering, sealant, bonding and waterproofing products for industrial floorings, to bonding and sealing technologies for the transportation and naval industry.
The Swiss group Sika, with a yearly turnover of more than 3 billion Euros, is present in more than 70 countries and employs some 11.700 people, of which 50 in Romania.
