Sprider to Invest 6 Mln EUR in Romania by Year-End

Greek clothing retailer Sprider plans to expand its Romanian network to six stores, the average investment per unit amounting to approximately 1 million EUR, according to company representatives quoted by NewsIn.

Sprider Stores earlier this year launched its first Romanian store within the City Mall shopping center in Bucharest. Next month, the retailer will open a second store in Timisoara, followed by another four stores in Targu Mures, Bacau (two stores) and Cluj. The average surface area of a store is approximately 1,500 square meters.

By the end of this year, Sprider plans to open 71 stores in countries such as Greece, Cyprus, Romania and Bulgaria, according to development director Konstantinos Pipinelis. As far as Romania is concerned, the company intends to launch six stores in the largest cities, including 1,800 square meters within the Arena City Center Bacau.

Sprider Stores was established in Greece in 1971 and currently operates 48 stores in Greece and Southeastern Europe.
