SSIF Broker, Former Chairman Prunea Make Claims On Each Other

Petru Prunea, the former Chairman of the Board and General Manager of SSIF Broker - Cluj Napoca (BSE:BRK) has denied the information released by the management of the brokerage firm on Tuesday indicating that SSIF Broker had decided to give up a lawsuit against him for an overdue debt. Prunea said the situation was exactly the opposite as the Cluj County Court had denied the appeal filed by the firm.

"The lawsuit filed by SSIF Broker with the Cluj County Court asking for the issuance of a presidential ordinance to seize the amount of 205,321.10 RON, to which I am entitled following the sale of a stock via SSIF Broker was denied by the Court. Additionally, the appeal filed by SSIF Broker with the Court of Appeal was denied, too. The statement of the SSIF Broker representatives that they had decided to give up the lawsuit is false," Prunea told BURSA.

The management of SSIF Broker on Tuesday announced they had notified the Cluj Court of Appeal of their renunciation to the lawsuit filed against Prunea for the payment of 205,321 RON and that they had decided to offset the amount of 205,321 RON existing in Prunea"s account with the firm and the amount of 159,617 RON, which Prunea still owed to the firm.

"First of all, only account holders have the right to perform offset and not the management of SSIF Broker. The amount they claim I owe them is false," Prunea added, stressing that his debt to SSIF Broker was in fact 130,000 RON. Prunea has recently sold approximately 3 million shares of the 10 million shares he had in SSIF Broker and announced intent to completely exit the firm.
