The government wants to subsidize with 2 lei per liter half of the fuel consumption of farmers last year, to which the excise subsidy of 1.56 lei will be added, Florin Barbu, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. According to the official, the draft normative act will be put into decisional transparency in the next period.
"Farmers have been greatly affected since this absurd war began, but what I can assure you - and the working group established at the level of the Government, both from the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Agriculture -, Romanian farmers this year will not have problems for transit, for grain transport. In the next period, the Government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, will come out with a normative act by which 50% of fuel consumption in 2022 will be subsidized with 2 lei per liter, plus the excise subsidy of 1.56 lei. Practically 50% of consumption for the year 2022, for the vegetable part, for Romanian farmers, will be 3.56 lei. It is a very good subsidy, which supports Romanian farmers", said Florin Barbu.
The Ministry of Agriculture believes that the subsidy granted to farmers should also influence the price of agricultural products, a price that should know a new reduction, compared to that imposed by GEO 67/2023, regarding the limitation of the commercial addition, to 14 basic foods, at retailers and distributors.
