Traian Băsescu and Dan Voiculescu continue their remote dialogue as the electoral campaign is nearing the finish line, as greater or less important politicians at various levels are doing the same things. When politicians feel like being ironic, voters are free to cry in peace. It's the same this time, when the object of humor is the name of the future prime minister or that of the current president, which should be two serious matters.
Since the name of the future prime minister has become the core issue of this electoral campaign, president Traian Băsescu has once again picked it up, saying once again, at a high ratings hour, that Ioan Rus and Călin Popescu Tăriceanu should stop "fidgeting" over their possible nominations for the position of PM, and ironically suggested two other names: Adrian Năstase and Dan Voiculescu: "Mr. Rus, you are not on my shortlist, stop worrying, it won't do you any good! So what would happen if Adrian Năstase were on my shortlist? But what if it were Dan Voiculescu? Have a good evening! For now, my shortlist does not include Călin Popescu Tăriceanu, nor does it include Rus, and I am running a test with Adrian Năstase and Dan Voiculescu". The president justified his increasingly frequent public exits by saying that the USL has turned him into a campaign target: "When is Victor Viorel Ponta being honest, when he is speaking about cohabitation, or when he is turning me into a campaign target? I have to defend myself, I can't let them use me in their campaign and not react in any way. (...) These are absolutely hideous, Communist-type messages, who define Victor Viorel Ponta. I am not surprised by Crin Antonescu in any way. As for Ponta, who wants to look like an educated man, with doctorates in Catania, his inbox disqualifies him". The president showed several papers, which he said were messages from the "message box" of the USL, stating that his name appears 25 times a day, and one day earlier it had been mentioned 19 times.
On the other hand, the founding president of the Conservative Party (PC), Dan Voiculescu, seems just as concerned about the political future of his opponent. In a posting on his blog, Voiculescu ironically offers to intercede in favor of Traian Băsescu wit the management of B1TV, so he can get a job after he leaves the presidency: "Since he is basically on notice as president, Traian Băsescu is looking for solutions to his career. And since he can no longer back to sea because the fleet no longer exists (as it disappeared without anyone being made to pay for the loss), he is now getting ready for a career in television. Thus, exploiting his current status, Mr. Băsescu makes mike tests every evening in prime time, trying to convince the top employers. As is somewhat to be expected, his first option seems to be the Intact group, because each of his statements mentions the group and its founder.(..) Still, because I understand that he is in a difficult situation, I will try to put in a word for him with another TV station. For example, at B1TV. I know the owner, Sorin Oancea, very well, a man, who, together with me and Intact, has made a successful professional reconversion and he may find a show that would fit Băsescu. I will give him a message right now: «Sorin, will you please help Traian? Make him a long term offer. He is trying hard, and honestly, he would actually be useful. The man has built an obsession for me, he obstinately attacks me, he conveys real emotion. He's a bargain, don't miss the opportunity »".
There are plenty of jokers, it's the mood for jokes that is missing in the current context. On Sunday, December 9th, we have parliamentary elections scheduled.
