Over 100 machines are working on the construction of the Arad - Timişoara highway section, with the main site located in Cruceni, county of Arad. Another 100 machines and 175 workers on setting up the construction site.
Work on the Arad - Timişoara highway will unfold at two locations: one in Cruceni, in the county of Arad, and one in Pişchia, in the county of Timiş. The land that the highway will cross has been cleared at both locations.
"So far a total surface of 1,796,743 sqm has been expropriated, which entailed payments worth 63,597,027 lei", a press release of the Timi oara Regional Road and Bridge Department says. Officials of the roads department said that a surface of 409,595 sqm was cleared and refurbished, soil was poured over a surface of 121,154 sqm, and digs with a surface of 2,375 sqm were made. A total surface of 195,080 sqm was cleared mechanically.
So far, 13 mechanical diggers, 46 dump trucks, 14 bulldozers, 10 compactor-rollers, 7 front loaders, and 3 roadgraders. The earthworks will require the excavation of 2,000,000 cubic meters, 3,500,000 cubic meters of filling, 3,200,000 cubic meters of borrow pits and 280,000 cubic meters of ballast. The road structure will require 80,000 cubic meters of concrete, 200,000 cubic meters of track ballast and 450,000 tons of asphalt.
The Arad-Timişoara highway segment will feature 11 bridges and passageways, 33 culverts, and 14 footbridges. The 32 km highway segment will cost 163 million Euros, or 5.09 million Euros/km. The auction has been won by the consortium JV FCC Construccion SA and Astaldi SpA.
