Authorities have decided to invest in culture following a summer full of controversies on this front, where the government was accused of neglecting the arts. The government has decided to allocate the sum of 331,027,626.13 lei to 71 theaters, operas, and philharmonics in 47 localities, which operate under the jurisdiction of local authorities in 34 counties. "At the proposal of the Ministry of Development, Public Works, and Administration, the government has decided to allocate the sum of 331,027,626.13 lei to 71 theaters, operas, and philharmonics in 47 localities, which operate under the jurisdiction of local authorities in 34 counties," the ministry announces. "With this measure, we are supporting the administrative-territorial units for which the development of cultural infrastructure is very important but which do not have the financial capacity to cover all the expenses related to ensuring their functioning and continuing investments," said Minister Adrian-Ioan Veştea. The sum represents 2% of the income tax collected until July 31, 2023, for the financing of public performing arts institutions under the jurisdiction of the requesting administrative-territorial units in the following counties: Alba, Arad, Argeş, Bacău, Bihor, Bistriţa-Năsăud, Botoşani, Braşov, Brăila, Buzău, Caraş-Severin, Cluj, Constanţa, Covasna, Dâmboviţa, Dolj, Galaţi, Giurgiu, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Iaşi, Maramureş, Mureş, Neamţ, Prahova, Satu-Mare, Sibiu, Suceava, Timiş, Tulcea, Vaslui, Vâlcea, and Vrancea. Currently, the investments focus on the "walls," but it is a step forward.
