The government is reviewing the stake of the Romanian state in the project to build units 3 and 4 of the nuclear plant of Cernavodă. The Minister of the Economy, Adriean Videanu, said on Friday on the occasion of a visit to the Energy Complex of Rovinari: "The decision to preserve or to reduce the size of the stake of the state in the project to build Units 3 and 4 of Cernavodă will be made following the consultation with the private partners. In other words, the government is demonstrating flexibility in the making of the final investment decision, thus allowing the construction of the two reactors to begin as soon as possible".

Minister Videanu stressed that the final decision concerning the investment in the 4 billion Euro project could be made this week. The state currently holds 51% of the company involved in the project via Nuclear Electrica. Minority shareholders in the project include CEZ, Enel, RWE, ArcelorMittal, Iberdrola and GDS Suez.
