The second edition of the Hungarian Theatres Festival in Bucharest - BukFeszt will take place from September 27th to October 2nd at the Odeon Theatre in the capital city. This event is an initiative of the Association of Hungarian Theatres Union (MASZIN), in collaboration with UNITER. The member theaters of the association include the Hungarian State Theatre "Csiky Gergely" in Timişoara, the Szigligeti Theatre in Oradea, the Northern Theatre, the "Harag György" troupe in Satu Mare, the "Csíki Jatekszín" Theatre in Miercurea Ciuc, and the "Tomcsa Sandor" Theatre in Odorheiu Secuiesc. The positive experiences from the first edition of BukFeszt serve as motivation to continue this initiative in the coming years. One of the most important objectives of the founding institutions is to focus on the cultural needs of the Hungarian minority. The BukFeszt Festival aims to provide a diverse cultural program with high aesthetic values for the substantial Hungarian community in the capital, as stated by the organizers.

Over the course of the five-day festival, the organizers will present seven significant performances from their repertoires, including "Exit" by Matei Vişniec, directed by Zakarias Zalan, a production of the "Tomcsa Sandor" Theatre in Odorheiu Secuiesc; "Caravaggio" by Visky Andras, directed by Visky Andrej, a production of the Hungarian State Theatre "Csiky Gergely" in Timişoara; "Six Characters in Search of an Author" by Luigi Pirandello, directed by Anca Bradu, a production of the "Tomcsa Sandor" Theatre in Odorheiu Secuiesc; "Le Schmurz" by Boris Vian, directed by Gyorfi Csaba, a production of the Szigligeti Theatre, Nagyvarad Ensemble, in Oradea; "Magyarosaurus Dacus" by Gianina Cărbunariu, directed by Gianina Cărbunariu, a production of the Szigligeti Theatre in Oradea; "Fiddler on the Roof" by Sheldon Harnick, Jerry Bock, Joseph Stein, directed by Erwin Şimşensohn, a production of the "Csíki Jatekszín" Theatre in Miercurea Ciuc; "My Fair Lady" by Frederick Loewe, Alan Jay Lerner, directed by Andrei Şerban, a production of the "Harag György" Theatre at the Northern Theatre in Satu Mare.

Another important goal of the organizers is to promote the member theaters, establish stronger connections between their institutions in the national theater network, and present interesting performances from their repertoire. These are performances that, due to geographical distance, many theater critics have not been able to attend, so the work of these minority theaters, often isolated, loses out in terms of its presence on the cultural map. For the Bucharest audience, the performances will be presented with surtitles in Romanian.
