The board of directors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will meet on Sunday to approve the 3-year EUR 30 billion aid for Greece.

"The board of the IMF plans to meet on Sunday, May 9th, in order to make a decision on the loan for Greece", the IMF officials announced yesterday.

It bears reminding that on May 2nd, the ministers of Finance of the Eurozone countries approved a bailout plan for Greece amounting to EUR 110 billion, of which 80 billion will come from EU member countries and 30 billion from the IMF.

"We have to avoid Europe"s contagion", said the head of the IMF, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, in an interview published yesterday by Le Parisien. He mentioned that the Greece bailout plan "is taking this aspect into consideration as well". He mentioned that "there is always a risk of contagion and, as a result, every country needs to be vigilant".

Strauss-Kahn said that "Portugal is in the course of taking measures in this respect and other countries are in a much more solid situation". In his opinion, there is no real contagion risk for France, Germany or other big European countries.
